Play, Slay, Away
Why Easily Bored Slot Players Win More
The “Play, Slay, Away” Slot Method is a way to keep more of what you’ve won. It simply means moving to a different slot if you hit a jackpot, bonus, or make a significant win. For some slot players—namely the easily bored—this comes naturally. This is how I personally gamble to this day. If you’ve seen our slot videos on YouTube, none of our slot sessions (with rare exceptions) lasts for more than five minutes.
Does it work?
This is actually a variation of the “$100 Slot Method”, which we were using before we knew it was being called a “method”.
Gambling away your winnings is where most players lose whatever gain they’ve made. It’s common because slot machines make it easy. If we make a significant win (for us it’s $20 or more), we immediately cash out; we’ll also cash out with as little as a $5 win if we don’t think the slot will pay again soon. The difference with the Play Slay Away Method is that you immediately get up and move to a different slot or machine as soon as you cash out. Pretty simple.
Should you try it?
Yes. While it doesn’t improve your chances of winning, it does guarantee that the money you won will be there after your gambling session is over. We tally our wins and losses at the end of the evening to see where we are. If we’re up more than 100%, we’ll bank some of that money for another trip.
We also recommend setting a spending limit before you start playing a slot machine. For example, on highly volatile slots like Dragon Link, we know exactly what our stopping point is before we push the play button. Our upper limit (how much we can win before leaving) is by percentage; for us, that’s 20% or more1
