"Follow the Leader" Slot Method
Overview
Our new slot method helped us win multiple bonuses and a handpay on Dragon Link, Lightning Link, and Phoenix Link. See if it’s the right slot method for you.
DISCLAIMER
While the “Follow the Leader” slot method has worked for us, that doesn’t mean that you’ll see the same results. This is gambling. There are no guarantees or implied warranties; any money you wager using this slot method can be lost.
What This Is & What It Isn't
The only goal of this slot method is to get a slot bonus more quickly. It’s not about winning more or losing less. If getting a bonus round is your goal, however, read on.
We only provide slot information and advice based on our experiences. If we suggest something, we’ll always back it up with examples in our YouTube videos.
I’ll also point out here that getting a bonus on Dragon Link, Lightning Link, etc. does NOT guarantee a good payout. We’ve been burned multiple times. If you’ve ever played Dragon Link before, you already know this.
Checking a Slot
On a Dragon Link, Dragon Cash, Lightning Link, or Phoenix Link slot machine, click through every denomination. What you’re looking for is if the person who played that slot before you was betting ANYTHING OTHER than the minimum bet for that denomination.
For example, if the minimum bet on 2¢ denom is $1.00 and that’s what shows up, move on. If you see that someone was betting $2, then you have an opportunity. This is also the time to check if someone hit a bonus. If they did, move on.
Our normal bet on Phoenix Link is $1 denomination and $10 spins, but if we see that someone was betting $20 a spin, we’ll change our bet to match. Because we start a slot session with $100, that’s five spins. If we don’t get it, we move on.
Deciding On Your Bet
If you find that someone was betting an amount other than the minimum, you’ll need to decide whether you want to gamble on it hitting a bonus.
While we’ve had success with this method, we’ve also lost money following it. Like I said, it’s gambling: there are no guarantees.
We suggest moving down a denomination from your normal bet. If your usually bet $3 at a 10¢ denom and someone playing that machine before you was betting $2.50 at a 5¢ denom, then it’s pretty clear that you should probably choose the lower bet.
How much you gamble is entirely up to you. We will normally make 7-9 spins. If we don’t get a bonus, we move on.
If we’re up a $1,000 or more, we’ll also try 2-3 spins at an extremely high bet if that’s what someone else was playing ($50/spin). We did this on Phoenix Link and got a second-spin bonus…which unfortunately turned out to be a dud ($400 win).
New Slots Hide Previous Bets
One reasons we only use this slot method on Dragon Link, Dragon Cash, Lightning Link, and Phoenix Link slot machines is that new slots reset after each slot session. The fact that they went to the trouble of adding this feature should tell you something.
Huff N’ Puff Highrise (launced in 2025) resets after a few minutes, so there’s no way for the next player to check what previous players were betting. If you see two Highrise slots next to each other and the reels show identical symbols, it’s reset.
Compared to Other Slot Methods?
The only other slot method that we use is our “M.A.D. Method”, which is really just common sense with a silly name. The other slot methods that we’ve seen on YouTube are basically clickbait nonsense with the exception of the somewhat useful (but flawed) 5-spin method.
Final Notes & A Final Tip
Another habit we’ve taken up recently is ALWAYS cashing out before we get to zero on a slot and saving the TITO. Play 10 slots, pocket 10 TITOs. This makes it incredibly easy to see a) how many slots you’ve played and b) what our win/loss ratio is. We do this at least three times a day.
