What are MGM's Tier Milestones?
In March of 2025, MGM updated their loyalty program to reward people that don’t stop gambling once they hit a tier level. But are they worth the extra coin-in?
As loyalty programs go, casinos have some of the best. If you enjoy gambling and make frequent trips to a casino, they provide free rooms, no resort fees, freeplay, free shows, and a host of other perks.
On March 25, 2025, MGM launched the “tier milestones” program, which provides additional offers to those that don’t stop gambling once they reach a tier.
Here’s are the MGM tiers:
- MGM Sapphire: 0-19,999 tier credits
- MGM Pearl: 20,000 – 74,999
- MGM Gold: 75,000 – 199,999
- MGM Platinum: 200,000 and above
- MGM Noir: Invitation only
The Tier Milestones are at…
- 50,000 tier credits (about halfway to Gold)
Benefit: start the following year with 7,500 tier credits instead of 0 - 125,000 tier credits (more than halfway to Platinum).
Benefit: 25,000 tier credits the following year
Was hitting the milestone worth it?
Yes. Here’s why….
If you gamble on a relatively small bankroll like we do ($2K-$4K), then starting the following year with a 25,000 credit headstart is huge. It’s a third of the way to getting gold status the following year.
Real-Life Example
Here’s our experience from this year.
In November 2025, we were at around MGM 110,000 tier credits. This isn’t unusual since we have a slot channel on YouTube.
In December, 2025, MGM launched a special bonus program where gambling $5,000 in a day would earn $5,000 bonus tier credits, which meant we could easily reach the 125,000 milestone in two days. So we did.
On Jan 28, 2026, MGM posted 25,000 tier credits to our account, one for 7,500 and one for 17,500. Both were tagged as coming from the Bellagio (see the image below).
MGM Tier Benefits We Care About
Here are the tier benefits that we care about in rank order:
- Free hotel rooms: We received about $36,000 in free hotel rooms in 2025.
- Priority check-in: Almost all MGM resorts have a separate check-in desk for Gold tier and above. At Bellagio, this can save you 30 mins.
- Freeplay: At the beginning of 2025, we received $375 per trip. That dropped to $130 in Dec 2025, then down to $85 in Jan, 2026.
- No resort fee: An instant $40-150 per night benefit
- $100 “celebration” reward credit We usually use this for a splurge dinner, but it can apply to any room charge.
- Free cruise: Probably the best benefit for a lot of people, but not us.
- 20% Slot Dollar bonus: While you gamble with your loyalty card inserted, you’re given a form a freeplay called “Slot Dollars”. Gold tier gets a 20% bonus.
- Holiday Gift Shoppe points: These can buy items, but we used it to get $150 in additional freeplay
- Free parking: We rarely rent a car, so this isn’t very useful
Awesome New MGM December Promotion. Watch for it.
MGM Rewards ran a special promotion for the first time in 2025. If you visited Vegas in December, you could earn 100% or more of the milestone. For example, if you earned 5,000 tier credits in 24-hours, you got 5,000 bonus tier credits.
Did we take advantage of this? Yes. We hit 125,000 tier credits which has additional benefits.
