Our "Follow the Leader" Slot Method™ Explained
Updated August 12, 2025
Overview
Our Follow the Leader slot method has gotten us multiple bonuses and a handpay on Dragon Link, Dragon Cash, Lightning Link, and Phoenix Link.
Is it the slot method for you?
DISCLAIMER
While the “Follow the Leader” slot method has worked for us, that doesn’t mean that you’ll see the same results. Playing a slot is still gambling. There are no guarantees or implied warranties; any money you wager can be lost.
The Follow the Leader Slot Method™:
What This Is & What It Isn't
The only goal of the Follow the Leader slot method is to get a slot bonus quickly. It’s not about winning more or losing less since there’s no way to predict how much a bonus will pay.
We only provide slot information and advice based on our experiences. If we suggest something, we’ll always back it up with examples in our YouTube videos.
The Follow the Leader Slot Method™
Step-By-Step
On a Dragon Link, Dragon Cash, Lightning Link, or Phoenix Link slot machine…
STEP 1: Click through every denomination, starting with the denomination you usually play.
STEP 2: Look for the bet the person before you was playing. This means any bet OTHER THAN the minimum for that denomination. This is also the time to check if someone hit a bonus. If they did, move to another machine.
STEP 3: Play the bet.
EXAMPLE: if the minimum bet on 1¢ denom is 80¢ and that’s what shows up when you do your check, continue on to the next higher denomination. If you see that someone was betting $1.60, STOP— that is your potential bet.
The Follow the Leader Slot Method™:
Deciding On Your Bet
If you find that someone was betting an amount other than the minimum, you’ll need to decide whether you want to gamble on it hitting a bonus.
While we’ve had success with this method, we’ve also lost money following it. Like I said, it’s gambling: there are no guarantees.
Our default bet on Phoenix Link is $1 denomination and $10 spins (10 lines), but if we see that someone was betting $10 a spin on a $2 denom, we’ll change our bet to match. That’s how we go the handpay at New York, New York in Vegas.
If we’re up, we’ll also try 2-3 spins at an extremely high bet if that’s what someone else was playing. We did this on Phoenix Link at Park MGM on a $50 spin and got a second-spin bonus.
Newer Slots Hide Previous Bets (Why?)
Newer slots automatically reset shortly after each slot session.
The fact that the slot manufacturer went to the trouble of adding this feature should tell you something. A bet that’s higher than the minimum makes the casino more money, so why hide it?
EXAMPLE: Huff N’ Puff Highrise (launched 2025) resets after a few minutes. If you see two Highrise slots next to each other and the reels show IDENTICAL symbols, it’s already reset.
How does the Follow the Leader slot method compare to other slot methods?
The only other slot method that we use is our “M.A.D. Method”, which is really just common sense with a silly name. The other slot methods that we’ve seen on YouTube are basically clickbait nonsense with the exception of the borderline useful (but flawed) 5-spin method.
Final Notes & Tips
Another habit we’ve taken up recently is ALWAYS cashing out before we get to zero on a slot and saving the TITO.
Play 10 slots, pocket 10 TITOs. This makes it easy to see a) how many slots you’ve played and b) what our win/loss ratio is. We do this several times a day and it’s really made tracking wins/losses much easier.
